Apple certification program is an IT professional certification for Apple Inc. products They are designed to create a high level of technical expertise among Macintosh service technicians, desk support help, technical support, system administrators, and professional users. Apple certification exams are offered at Prometric testing centers and Apple Authorized Training Centers, as well as online through Pearson Vue.

Hardware Certification
This certification is designed for individuals interested in becoming an Apple service technician, help desk, desktop support, or Macintosh consultant who needs a thorough experience in serving Macintosh computers. This includes two separate certifications.
Apple Certified Macintosh Technician
This certification is for the repair and diagnosis of all desktop, portable, and Macintosh servers. This certification is required to make warranted hardware repairs to Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Previously, the hardware certification came in combination from Apple Certified Desktop Technician (ACDT) and Apple Certified Portable Technician (ACPT), but it has been merged into one hardware certification. The certification also includes extensive knowledge of the Apple OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system including installation, setup, troubleshooting, and application.
Prior to November 2014, Apple Certified Macintosh Technicians do not cover the Retina MacBook Pro range, as well as all Macs released after 2012. To fix a 13-inch MacBook Pro 2013 with Retina Display, one must be an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician. and pass the test to fix the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina (2013 End to Beginning 2015). All the technicians who received the certification after November 20, 2014 have been certified to fix the Mac released before 2015.
Pro Apps Certification
This certification is designed for individuals who require high-level skills in the use of Apple pro applications or for professionals who provide support for Final Cut Pro software and peripheral devices.

IT Professional Certification
This certification is designed for IT professionals who support Mac OS X or who do Mac OS X desktop support and troubleshooting, such as help desk staff, system administrators, service technicians, and service desk staff. Any certification specific to the associated OS X version; the administrator who qualifies as ACTC for OS X 10.4 Tiger instead of ACTC for 10.6 Snow Leopard. Resertification exams are available to accelerate the move from one version to the next. The OS X 10.6 exams are only available until May 31, 2012, when they are withdrawn.
Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC)
This certification is designed for system administrators that provide support for OS X users, as well as maintaining the OS X Server platform.

The ACTC certification path is withdrawn for new students by 2015. Apple Administration System (ACSA) "> Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA)
Apple Certified System Administrators (ACSA)This certification is for system administrators who manage large multiplatform IT networks using Mac OS X Server and other Apple technologies. The ACSA program has been altered to offer individuals more flexibility and now focus on individual job functions. Each passing exam obtains a specialization certificate and a certain amount of credit towards ACSA certification, which requires a total of 7 valid credits (not yet expired). OS X 10.6 is the latest version that has this certification, nothing is equivalent to OS X 10.7 Lion.

Apple Certified Media Administrator (ACMA)
Verify in-depth knowledge of Xsan architecture, including the ability to install and configure systems, architects and maintain networks, customize and troubleshoot services, and integrate Mac OS X, Final Cut Server and other Apple technologies in Xsan installations. The ACMA certification is for system administrators and technicians working for retailers, post houses, studios or other large facilities. To obtain ACMA status, students must pass three required exams and one elective exam as outlined below.

Administrator Xsan 2
Verify the comprehensive knowledge of the Apple SAN file system for Mac OS X. The Xsan administrator is responsible for Xsan's life cycle, including installation, deployment, infrastructure. To get Xsan Administrator certification, students must pass one exam. The Xsan 2 test is only available until May 31, 2012, when they will be withdrawn following Xsan integration from Apple into OS X Server 10.7.
