Toyota 2016 Grand Prix in Long Beach is the third round of IndyCar Series 2016 and 42 years of the Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach. The race was contested over 80 laps on the street circuit while in Long Beach, California on April 17, 2016. HÃÆ'Ã… © lio Castroneves qualified for the pole for the second race in a row with a time of 1: 07,1246. Scott Dixon from Chip Ganassi Racing started with him in second place. Some confusion circled the second round of qualifying as time and judgment did not work. The IndyCar officer will correct the errors caused by this and set the correct Fast Six qualification as soon as the second round ends. Six quick qualifications were delayed when Will Power cut the tire barrier and into the runoff area. Power began sixth because of the accident.

Castroneves led from the start and led 49 of 51 laps. Behind him, Simon Pagenaud was able to move past Scott Dixon to second place, while Dixon jerked to fourth when the first pit stop came. During the pit stop, Dixon was able to jump over Pagenaud and teammate Tony Kanaan to move up to second. In the second round of stops, Dixon was able to pass through Castroneves with fast pit work. However, Simon Pagenaud was able to move faster and out of the pit right in front of Dixon, handing Pagenaud to the lead of the race. The controversy surrounded this, though, when Pagenaud placed two tires above the mixed line at the pit lane exit while trying to defeat Dixon to change it. IndyCar officials let Pagenaud leave with a warning for the incident, despite protests from Chip Ganassi Racing and Scott Dixon. In the end, Pagenaud was able to survive and clinch victory by 0.3032 seconds, the closest finish in the history of the Grand Prix of Long Beach. It was Pagenaud's first win while driving for Tim Penske and his first win since the second race of the 2014 Grand Prix in Houston.

Just for the 4th time in the history of the race, no full attention takes place at any point.
