Virginia G. Madsen (born September 11, 1961) is an American actress and producer. He made his film debut in Classroom (1983), which was filmed in his native Chicago. He soon moved to Los Angeles. In 1984, David Lynch put it in the science fiction film Dune as Princess Irulan. Madsen was instrumental in a series of successful teen films, including Electric Dreams (1984), Modern Girls (1986), and Fire with Fire (1986).
He is best known for his role as Helen Lyle in Candyman's horror film (1992); and for her performance as Maya in the film Alexander Payne Sideways (2004), where she received numerous awards and nominations, including a nomination for the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Other movie appearances include Long Gone (1987), Gotham (1988), The Hot Spot (1990), Ghost Mississippi The Rainmaker (1997), A Prairie Home Companion (2006), The Astronaut Farmer (2007), The Haunting in Connecticut (2009), Red Riding Hood (2011), and All the Wilderness (2014).
He starred as Kimble Hookstraten in the first season of the ABC drama's Survivor Appointed series.

Madsen was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Elaine Madsen (nà © Å © Elaine Loretta Melson), who became a filmmaker and author of the Emmy Award, and Calvin Madsen, a fireman. Madsen later attended Ted Liss Acting Studio in Chicago, and Harand Camp Adult Theater Seminar at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. From his experience with Liss, he said: "I want to join his class since I was 12. It is worth the wait because I do not think I can get such training anywhere else especially in the United States... I always want to make a real career from acting. "

She was also co-hosted from the old television series Unsolved Mysteries in 1999, during the eleventh (also second and last) season on CBS.
