The series was filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he recounts daily activities at World Famous Gold & amp; Silver Pawn Shop, a 24-hour family business opened in 1989 and operated by patriarch Richard "Old Man" Harrison, his son Rick Harrison, Rick Corey's son "Big Hoss" Harrison, and Corey's childhood friend Austin "Chumlee" Russell. The series illustrates the interaction of staff with customers, who carry a variety of artifacts for sale or pawns, and is shown bargain prices and discusses his historical background, with narrations provided by Harrison or Chumlee.
The series also follows the interpersonal conflict among the players. Production history and format
Star Pawn started with Brent Montgomery and Colby Gaines from Leftfield Pictures, who were struck by the eclectic and somewhat seedy gadgets in Las Vegas during their 2008 weekend visit to the city. Thinking such stores might contain unique characters, they searched for a family-run shop that became the center of the TV series, until they found Gold & amp; Silver Pawn Shop less than two miles from the Las Vegas Strip. It has been the subject of a 2001 PBS documentary, and the manager and part owner, Rick Harrison, has tried unsuccessfully to stage a show based on his shop for four years. The store, and Rick, had previously been featured in an episode of Las Vegas Insomniac with Dave Attell in 2003.
The series was originally launched into HBO, though the network prefers the series as the Taxicab Confessions series -style that takes place in Gold & amp; Silver night window. The format eventually evolved into a family-oriented motif that is now known in this series. President of history Nancy Dubuc, who is accused of making the program with a more populist appeal to balance a deep military network program, took the series, originally titled Pawn History , before a staff at Leftfield suggested that Gada Stars will be better suited to local. The network agrees, believing that the name is more fun and memorable. The staff adjusted to the storyline to make it fit the network brand, which included camera experts who judged items brought to Gold & amp; Silver, although he did not discourage interpersonal conflict between the stars of the show.
The series was filmed on site at World Famous Gold & amp; Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although jewelry is the most commonly pawned item in Gold & amp; Silver Pawn Shop, most of the customers featured in the episode bring a variety of antiques or antique to the store, which has 12,000 items in its inventory in July 2011 (5,000 of which are usually held in pawns). Each episode consists of segments devoted to about five or six of these items, in which one of the staff members, usually Rick Harrison, his son Corey, or father Harrison Richard (known as "Old Man"), explains the history behind the object. When a buyer can not evaluate an object, they consult with a knowledgeable expert who can evaluate it to determine authenticity and potential value, and in case of goods that need to be repaired, the cost of recovering or preparing goods for sale. Anyone who evaluates the object exceeds the potential value with the customer, including expert opinion, if one is given, often interspersed with the interview in which he explains the basis of his decision to the viewer. The price tag graph on the bottom corner of the screen provides an ever-changing dollar amount as two bargains over the price of the item. Sometimes, Rick will buy items that require recovery before determining the cost of restoration, so take the risk on the cost.
Interpersonal narrative focuses on the relationships and conflicts between Rick, Corey, Old Man, and Corey's childhood friend, Austin "Chumlee" Russell, who also works in the store, also comprises episode plots. This is usually related to arguments about the course of the shop, which older Harrison questioned Corey's judgment, and the impurity that was cast on Chumlee's intelligence and competence. Before the second commercial break, multiple-choice trivia questions related to the store and its inventory, cast members or one of the featured items are displayed, with answers given after a pause; starting with episode 8 of "A Very Vegas Christmas" season, a trivia question is asked on every commercial break.
In addition to spawning imitators, such as the Hardcore Pawn series of truTV , the success of P Star In July 2011, Harrison signed a contract extension of 80 record episodes for four more seasons of the series. The professional specialist is sometimes called by a pawnshop to determine the authenticity and value of the goods brought in and, in some cases, to return it. The following is a list of recurring experts who appear in two or more episodes. Celebrity cameo appearence
The cameo appearance has been made by Phil Collen, Joe Elliott, Bob Dylan, Jeremy McKinnon, Meredith Vieira, Oak Ridge Boys, George Stephanopoulos, Matt Kenseth, Steve Carell, Winger Kip, Roger Daltrey, Katie Couric, Vic Flick and Butch Harmon.

Reception
US. television ratings
As of January 2011, Pawn Stars is the highest series of History values. An original episode that aired on January 24, 2011 was watched by seven million viewers, the most watched view in history, according to Nielsen Media Research and network. In 2011 it was the second highest reality series on TV behind Jersey Shore , attracting 7.6 million viewers. In 2016, a New York Times study of 50 TV shows with most Facebook Likes found that Gada Bintang was most popular in rural Kentucky.
Critical reception
Christopher Long, reviewing the first season DVD for DVD Town, praised the series for its cast and educational value of the item being examined, called it "addictive" and "big-time winner", and argued that it was the best event in History and possibly the cable. In one edition of TV Guide, writer Rob Moynihan put the show on the "wrong pleasure list" list. April McIntyre of Monsters and Critics, whose negative view of pawnshops influenced his views on series arrangements, reviewed an episode of the series, which he labeled "cool Antiques Roadshow ". Although he found interesting aspects, he criticized what he regarded as an emphasis on cheap laughter at the expense of family patriarch Richard Harrison over the event's historical material, as well as the weight of Corey Harrison. He finally sees the potential for the series if the aspects he finds in his tastes are poorly restrained. Today USA Gary Strauss argues that the quarrel between the Harrison family, as well as the customers seen in the store, is "turns cute and creaky". People wrote about the show, "Think Antiques Roadshow , but with neon and so much more tattoos." Some Historical audiences are reportedly unhappy with how reality series such as Gada Bintang and Swamp have replaced some of the previous programming-oriented network history.
The series also drew some criticism from other pawnshops, which while recognizing the value of its entertainment, claimed that the series' focus on luxury vintage items was brought to Gold & amp; The Silver Pawn Shop is not typical of the average pawn shop, whose business is predicted on people with fixed income who carry conventional items to pay their bills, such as electronics, appliances, and jewelry. Corey Grigson and Charles Brown, shopkeepers named Pawn Stars, estimate that their average loan to customers is between $ 50 and $ 100. They also show assessments handled by staff, who rely on experience, reference and research work, and not experts outside who is often seen on shows that help the Harrison family.
The success of this series has also become a parody. At the NHL Awards June 2011 in Las Vegas, Hanson Brothers from the Slap Shot film appeared in a spoof sketch where they tried to sell the Stanley Cup to Harrison at Gold & Silver. This event has received a rating of 7.7/10 on TV.com and has received a rating of 7.4/10 on IMDb.
Awards and honor
In 2010, Rick Harrison and the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop staff were awarded the Pawnbroker of the Year Award by the National Pawnbrokers Association to bring greater industry recognition and better picture with TV shows.
On July 17, 2012, Clark County Commission stated that the day was "Star Pawn/Gold & Silver Pawning Day". At the Commission meeting, Richard "The Old Man" Harrison donated $ 1,000 to the Clark County Heritage Museum, and lent the US Senate seat used by Senator Patrick McCarran (sold to Gold and Silver in Star Gada episode "Take" a Seat ") to the museum as part of the display at Senator McCarran.
Legal issues
In October 2012, AE Networks and History, as well as the cast members of the event, were sued at the Clark County District Court in Las Vegas for business practices disorder by Wayne Jefferies, Las Vegas promoters and Harrison managers, who represented them and Austin Lee "Chumlee" Russell in their television business. Jefferies, who was instrumental in helping launch the series, stated that after the show premieres, his influence on the show diminished, and he was eventually dismissed and left without a share of the promised fees and merchandising royalties from the series. Jefferies stated that this happened after a leaked January 2012 story in TMZ indicating that the Star Porn Players were surprised by the History launch of the Cajun Gada Bintang spin-off, where the cast was not conscious.
In March 2016, "Chumlee" Russell pleaded guilty to allegations arising from the discovery of weapons, marijuana, and other drugs by police at his Las Vegas home.
