Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach is a US Navy weapon and ammunition loading, storage and maintenance facility located in Seal Beach, California with detachments at Fallbrook, and Norco, both also in California. It also wraps up the Seal Seal Beach Fresh Protection.

Location and infrastructure

NWS Seal Beach occupies 5,256 hectares (21Ã, kmÃ,²), has 230 buildings and 128 magazine ammunition provides 589,299 ft (54.747Ã, mÃ, ²) ammunition storage space. Ammunition was transferred from storage to a pier on a 56-mile (90 km) rail line and 80 miles (128 km) of road. The base has 130 rolling lorries and 230 trucks and trailers to move ammunition loaded onto ships using six mobile cranes that can lift up to 90 tonnes (81 tonnes). [1]

The station is bordered on the north by a combination of Interstate 405 and State Route 22; on the west by Seal Beach Boulevard; in the southwest by the Pacific Ocean; in the south east by Channel of Bolsa Chica and Edinger Avenue; and to the east by Bolsa Chica Channel and Bolsa Chica Road. From Edinger Avenue to Interstate 405, which is about three miles, all roads east of the station end at Bolsa Chica Road, with the exception of Westminster Boulevard, which runs through the center of the facility, separated by chain-link fences on both sides. Edinger Avenue enters the facility, but public access ends at an emergency gate. On the west side of Interstate 405 south station, Westminster Boulevard and the Pacific Coast Highway are the only public road through any part of the station.

Memorial

The Weapon Station is also home to the World War Western - Western Submarine Warfare . The warning is dedicated to over 3000 submarine crew members who lost their lives on a US submarine in 52 submarines lost during World War II. There are also plaques dedicated to those who lost their lives in submarine crashes during the Cold War. The Memorial is located outside the main entrance to Weapons Station on Seal Beach Boulevard and is accessible to the public. [3]

Environment

The Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge is a 920 acre (4 km²) salt marsh located within the bounds of the Weapon Station. [4]
