Geography
Flamenco is located on the north coast of Culebra. The beach is located on a half-mile stretch of horseshoe beach. The beach is bordered by the Culebra National Wildlife Reserve, which is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in the United States. Off the coast of Flamenco, about a quarter mile, is the reef where the waves break. The characteristics of Flamenco are white sand beaches and shallow clear waters.
Flora and fauna
The waters of Flamenco are home to parrot species, blue tang, some wrasse fish species and other Caribbean marine fish species. Crustacean species such as Ghost Crabs are also observed. About 50,000 seabirds visit the Flamenco Peninsula in Culebra every summer for nesting - mostly marine animals and other migratory species. Summer visitors to Flamenco Beach are familiar with them as they often feed in large areas. In September, the birds have collected their mothers and flew into the ocean only to return home the following summer. Occasionally, leatherback turtles and hawksbill can be seen as the beaches of the Culebra islands are also the main breeding grounds for them and the adjacent seaweeds provide shade and food for the green sea turtles.
Connecting tanks
One of the most distinctive beach scenes are the two rusted corpses of the old Sherman Tank left by the United States Navy in 1975 when they went after using them as weapons testing sites for more than 30 years. While the salty sea breeze works on metal, causing it to rust and collapse, the locals have to work to decorate them, covering those displaced in the graffiti layer. Today the tank is fixed and has become a unique feature of the pristine beach. New graffiti pieces continue to be added on top of the old ones, giving the old machine a new life that is almost cheerful.

Recreation
- Swimming : Designated area with buoy. Shallow water allows a safe environment for swimmers and non swimmers.
- Sun bathing : Excellent conditions throughout the year but be careful of tropical sunlight as exposure without proper sunblock can create uncomfortable situations such as sunburn and moderate to severe itching during healing.
- Scuba and snorkeling : There are corals, sea urchins, lots of fish, and other marine wildlife.
- Sand : The soft white sand receives the beautiful shallow turquoise waters. Build a nice sand castle!
