The Thomas Murray House is a colonial house located in the Eastern Branch of Elizabeth River in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The house was built in 1791 by Isaac Murray for his son, Thomas. The house was saved from being destroyed in the 1950s and restored to its original elegance. This house has a dated brick at the top of the eastern chimney with the initials "I.M" (for Isaac Murray) and the date "1791". The house was built with a central plan. Recreation "Smokehouse" and "carriage house" were added to the property in 1988. The property has a well-functioning original. Across the river, Richard Murray's house is visible. Thomas Murray's house is the only Murray house built in the Eastern Branch of Elizabeth River.
The Murrays is a prominent family in Princess Anne County. The first Murray, David, came as a contract worker in 1622, producing 650 acres which was later passed on to the next generation of Murrays. The Murrays grow hemp as a cash crop and prepare the hemp fiber for rope making. The original hemp drying place is still on Richard Murray's property today.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
