David Mordechai Packouz born February 16, 1982) is a former dealer of weapons, musicians, inventors, and American businessmen.

In 2005, Packouz (23 years old at the time) joined Efraim Diveroli (19 years old at the time) at the weapon company Diveroli AEY Inc. By the end of 2006, the company had won 149 contracts worth approximately $ 10.5 million. In early 2007, AEY earned nearly US $ 300 million of US government contracts to supply the Afghan Army with 100 million rounds of AK-47 ammunition, millions of bullets for Dragunov SVD sniper rifles, airline rockets and other ammunition. The ammunition AEY secured in Albania to fulfill the contract originally came from China, violating the terms of the AEY contract with the US Army, which bans Chinese ammunition. Packouz is aware that the product is banned and will not be accepted, and plays an important role in covering the origin of ammunition. As a result of the publicity surrounding contracts and age of arms dealers - Packouz is 25 years old and Diveroli is 21 years old when AEY landed an ammunition deal - the US Army began reviewing its contract procedures.

Packouz was sentenced to seven months house arrest for conspiracy to deceive the United States. He is the main subject of the dramatic movie Todd Phillips War Dogs in 2016. Packouz himself has a cameo role in the film as a guitarist and singer in an old house.

Packouz went on to create a guitar drum guitar machine, BeatBuddy, and is currently the CEO of Singular Sound's music technology company.

The enemy dispute and AEY

Packouz joins the weapon company Efraim Diveroli, AEY Inc. in 2005; Ephraim was only 19 at the time, while David was 23 years old. By the end of 2006, they had won 149 contracts worth approximately $ 10.5 million. In early 2007, AEY earned nearly $ 300 million of US government contracts to supply the Afghan Army with 100 million rounds of AK-47 ammunition, millions of bullets for Dragunov SVD sniper rifles, and aviation rockets. The ammunition AEY secured in Albania to fulfill the contract came from China, violating the terms of the AEY contract with the US Army, banning Chinese ammunition.

AEY has failed to make various previous contracts, including sending potentially unsafe helmets and failure to deliver 10,000 Beretta pistols to Iraq. During House Oversight and Governmental Reform investigation documents are produced to indicate that federal agents stop, withdraw, or cancel at least seven previous contracts with AEY for poor quality or late deliveries.

Packouz responded by email to his colleagues that they should remove the chests with Chinese signs because Chinese products were banned and would not be accepted and AEY repackaged Chinese ammunition which, according to the US government, was a fraud. The issue of Chinese ammunition became the focal point of months of legal and logistical interference in the US Army and Department of Justice; AEY received a lot of media attention, mainly because of the age of young Miami Beach gun dealers and their indulgence for marijuana, earning them the nickname of "stoner weapon dealers" or "dudes".

Diveroli and David Packouz plead guilty to one charge of the Conspiracy to Defraud of the United States under the general conspiracy law, 18 U.S.C. Ã, § 371, in January 2011. Diveroli was sentenced to four years in federal prison, while Packouz was sentenced to seven months' house arrest.

The story is published in Guy Lawson's 2015 Arms and the Dudes , and is produced in the 2016 movie War Dogs by Todd Phillips.
