Haven Beach is an area in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States, located on Long Beach Island (LBI) and bordering the Atlantic Ocean. At the 2010 US Census, the borough population was 1,170, reflecting a decrease of 108 (-8.5%) of 1,278 calculated in the 2000 Census, which in turn decreased 197 (-13.4%) from 1.475 counted in the 1990 Census.
Beach Haven was founded as Borough by the New Jersey Legislative act on November 11, 1890, from the Eagleswood Township section, based on the results of a referendum held five days earlier.
It is ranked the ninth best beach in New Jersey at the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.

History
Beach Haven, known as "Queen City," was an early 19th century beach resort originally established in 1873 to accommodate the wealthy summer inhabitants of Philadelphia. Although some of the main structures, including some hotels and boardwalks, disappeared due to storms in the 1940s including the Great Atlantic Hurricane of 1944, most cities retained their Victorian and Edwardian characters. The New Jersey-listed Beach Haven Historic District and the National Register of Historic Places in the early 1980s, encompassing the most intact buildings in the resort core.

Geography
According to the US Census Bureau, the area has a total area of ​​2,320 square miles (6,108 sq. Km/3,476 km 2 ) water (57,84%).
The district is bordered by the Ocean County municipality in Little Egg Harbor Township and Long Beach Township.

In the 2010 US Census, there were 1,170 people, 531 households, and 301.1 families living in the area. Population density was 1,196.0 per square mile (461,8/km 2 ). There are 2,667 housing units with an average density of 2,726.2 per square mile (1,052.6/km 2 ). The racial makeup of the borough is 92.65% (1,084) White, 0.34% (4) Black or African American, 0.00% (0) Native Americans, 0.77% (9) Asian, 0.00% (0) Pacific Islands, 5.90% (69) of other races, and 0.34% (4) of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 9.91% (116) of the population.
There were 531 households where 15.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.5% were married couples living together, 9.6% had non-husbands female households, and 43.3% were not family. 36.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 17.9% had someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.20 and the average family size was 2.81.
In the borough, the population is spread by 13.8% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 19.7% from 25 to 44, 34.5% from 45 to 64, and 25.0% years or more. The median age was 51.5 years. For every 100 women there are 90.2 men. For every 100 women age 18 and older there are 93.7 men.
The 2006-2010 US Census Community Survey shows that (in dollars adjusted for inflation 2010) the average household income is $ 71,532 (with a margin of error of $ 4,910) and the average family income is $ 89.306 (/- $ 12,115). Men have an average income of $ 54,750 (/- $ 63,730) versus $ 51,875 (/- $ 34,023) for women. The per capita income for the borough is $ 52,498 (/- $ 9,292). About 3.8% of families and 5.8% of the population are below the poverty line, including 18.3% of those under the age of 18 and 1.2% of those aged 65 and older.

In the 2000 United States Census there were 1,278 people, 586 households, and 346 families living in the area. Population density was 1,301.8 persons per square mile (503.5/km 2 ). There are 2,555 housing units with an average density of 2,602.6 per square mile (1,006.6/km 2 ). Racial makeup of the boroughs is 98.83% White, 0.08% African American, 0.55% Asian, 0.08% of other races, and 0.47% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 4.69% of the population.
There were 586 households in which 18.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.4% were married couples living together, 8.7% had women without husbands present, and 40.8% is not family. 35.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.5% had someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.80.
In the borough, the population is spread by 17.1% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 28.1% from 45 to 64, and 27.7% years or more. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females, there are 87.1 males. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 86.4 men.
The average income for households in the borough is $ 48,355, and the average income for families is $ 68,036. Men have an average income of $ 39,444 compared to $ 29,688 for women. The per capita income for the borough is $ 30,267. Approximately 1.2% of families and 3.7% of the population are below the poverty line, including 3.3% of those under the age of 18 and 1.9% of those aged 65 and older.
Climate
During the summer months, frequent high moisture episodes occur. Sometimes, the heat index value exceeds 95 Â ° F (35 Â ° C). Parks and recreation

Since the island is only a few blocks wide, the beach and bay can be accessed from anywhere in Beach Haven. Pavilions can be found at Fifth and Pearl Streets, both swept by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012 and then rebuilt in June 2013. Government
Local government
Since 2010, Beach Haven has been governed by five members of the Borough Council in the Faulkner Act, officially known as the Optional Municipal Charter Law, under the Council-Manager form of government. Members were massively elected in non-partisan elections, with two or three seats for voting in the even years as part of the November elections in a three-year cycle. At the reorganization meetings held every January, one member is elected mayor and the other as chairman of the board, each serving a one-year term in that position. Beach Haven was previously set under the Walsh Act, by three members of the Board of Commissioners, one of whom was elected to serve as Mayor, under the system in place from 1946 to 2010.
In 2017, Board of Borough Beach Haven members are Mayor Nancy Taggart Davis (term council ending 31 December 2010; term as mayor ends 2018), President of the Board S. James White (term on council and as council president ends 2018), Donald C. Kakstis (2018), Thomas J. Lynch (2020) and Charles E. Maschal Jr. (2020).
In the November 2014 general elections, James White, who did not put his name on a vote for re-election, won the second open seat of the board behind a writing campaign that gave him 167 votes, in front of Don Katskis, who has received a total of 165 votes.
Representations of Federal, state and county
Beach Haven is located in the 2nd Congress District and is part of New Jersey's state 9 legislative district. Prior to the 2010 Census, Beach Haven has become part of the 3rd Congress District, a change made by the Redistricting Commission of New Jersey which came into force in January 2013, based on the results of the November 2012 general election.
The New Jersey Second Congress district is represented by Frank LoBiondo (R, Ventnor City). New Jersey is represented in the United States Senate by Democrat Cory Booker (Newark, term ended 2021) and Bob Menendez (Paramus, 2019).
For sessions 2018-2019 (Senate, General Assembly), 9th Legislative District of the New Jersey Legislature is represented in the State Senate by Christopher J. Connors (R. Lacey Township) and in the General Assembly by DiAnne Gove (R. Long Beach Township) and Brian E. Rumpf (R, Little Egg Harbor Township). The governor of New Jersey is Phil Murphy (D, Middletown Township). Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey is Sheila Oliver (D, East Orange).
Ocean County is governed by a Selected Council of Rightsholders consisting of five members, massively elected in partisan elections and serving a staggering three-year term, with one or two seats coming for election each year as part of the month's general election November. In an annual reorganization held in early January, the board elected a Director and Deputy Director from among its members. In 2015, Ocean County Shareholders (with party affiliation, year-end, residence and department directors listed in brackets) are the Director of Exemption John C. Politics
On March 23, 2011, there were a total of 992 registered voters in Beach Haven, of which 175 (17.6%) were registered as Democrats, 346 (34.9%) were registered as Republicans and 471 (47.5%) were registered as Unaffiliated. There are no voters registered in other parties. Among resident Census 2010 districts, 84.8% (vs. 63.2% in Ocean County) were registered to vote, including 98.3% of those aged 18 and older (vs. 82.6% of districts).
In the 2012 presidential election, Republican Mitt Romney received 61.6% of the vote (339 players), in front of Democrat Barack Obama with 37.5% (206 votes), and another candidate with 0.9% (5 votes), among 556 votes cast by 9214 registered voters in the region (6 ballot papers broken), with 54.8% voter turnout. In the 2008 presidential election, Republican John McCain received 57.8% of the vote (435 players), in front of Democrat Barack Obama with 41.0% (308 votes) and other candidates with 0.9% (7 votes) 752 votes issued by 1,124 registered voters in the region, with a turnout of 66.9%. In the 2004 presidential election, Republican George W. Bush received 63.1% of the vote (505 votes), defeating Democrat John Kerry with 36.4% (291 votes) and other candidates with 0.2% (2 votes) 800 votes by 1,105 registered voters in the region, with voter percentage 68.1.
In the 2013 governor's election, Republican Chris Christie received 77.9% of the vote (366 players), in front of Democrat Barbara Buono with 20.9% (98 votes), and another candidate with 1.3% (6 votes), at between 483 ballots cast by 967 registered voters in the region (13 broken ballots), with a turnout of 49.9%. In the 2009 gubernatorial elections, Republican Chris Christie received 59.8% of the vote (333 votes), ahead of Democrat Jon Corzine with 29.3% (163 votes), Independent Chris Daggett with 7.5% (42 votes) and candidates others with 0.9% (5 votes), among the 557 votes cast by 1,033 registered voters in the region, resulted in 53.9% of voters.
Education
The Beach Haven School District serves public school students in pre-Kindergarten parks up to sixth grade at Beach Haven Elementary School. In the academic year 2014-15, the district and one school have enrollment of 105 students and 11.4 class teachers (based on FTE), for student-teacher ratio 9.2: 1.
Students in public schools for the seventh to twenth grade attend the Southern Regional School District, which serves five municipalities in the Long Beach Island Consolidated School District, along with students from Barnegat Light, Stafford Township and Ocean Township who are present as part of the sending/receiving relationship. Schools in districts (with registration data 2014-15 from the National Center for Education Statistics) are South Secondary Schools (grades 7 and 8; 937 students) and South High Schools (grades 9-12, 2,064 students). Both schools are in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township.
Transportation
Roads and highways
As of May 2010, the region has a total of 20.93 miles (33.68 km) of highway, which is 17.56 miles (28.26 km) maintained by the municipality and 3.37 miles (5.42 km) by Ocean County.
Public transport
Ocean Ride provides a bus service on OC9 LBI South route between Holgate and Manahawkin/Stafford Township.
LBI Shuttle operates along Long Beach Boulevard, providing free service every 5 to 20 minutes from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. It serves the town/community of Long Beach Island from Barnegat Light, Loveladies, Harvey Cedars, North Beach, Surf City, Lower Ship, Long Beach Township, Beach Haven and Holgate.
