Synopsis

Series 1 (2012)

The first series centered on Josh Carter (Khalil Madovi), a student at Elmsbury High, and his brother Nathan (Doc Brown), who works as a teacher there. Josh is described as a teenage schoolboy trying to maintain his cool reputation, while also rebelling and trying to cause trouble to achieve his goals and humiliate or outsmart Nathan. Nathan, a former Elmsbury high school student and a famous rapper, soon learned that only he could stop Josh from his plans.

Series 2 (2013)

In the second series, Nathan left Elmsbury and new music teacher Dexter Harris (Jason Callender) joined the school. Dexter became Josh and his mother's new guest, taking Josh's room as a result. Thus, Josh antagonizes Dexter through many series, until he finally accepts his presence and labels him as "honorable Carter's brother". The series also features Crispin Bell (Simon Lowe) as the new headmaster, replacing Byron, and proved to be far more strict than Byron. Mr Thorne is the brutal enemy of Josh and Dexter for the rest of the series.

Series 3 (2013-14)

The third series featured Nathan's proposal and marriage with Melanie Poppy (Laura Aikman), both of whom left the series, and Josh was forced to share her room with her younger cousin, Nero (Akai Osei). When school burned down with a candle problem, Elmsbury joined another school, Fowlmere Manor, renamed Elmsmere Manor High school in the fourth episode of the third series. Molly and Ryan did not show up in the rest of the series, and attended the new school from the screen.

Because of the merger, several new characters joined the series in episode three, these are sports teachers Mr. Nunn (Dan Wright), Miss Parkwood (Sophia Di Martino) and students in Nero's year; Eli Grant (Daniel Kerr), Owen Garland (Lewis Brindley), Fleur Murphy (Chloe Davison) and Eleesha Rahad (Grace McIntosh). Sally Ann Matthews also joined the cast as head teacher Aine O'Brien.

Series 4 (2015)

The fourth series featured Nero, now in the lead role, and his crew has replaced Josh and the Elmsbury gang who have temporarily left the series (except Isaac, who became Elmsmere's temporary guard) and Dexter tries to make him a master teacher, but is given a new assignment to take care of Nero shenanigans , which indirectly resembles the relationship of Josh and Nathan in the first series. The teachers who appeared in Series 3, Miss Parkwood and Aine O'Brien did not appear in this series, which led to the re-introduction of former teacher chief Anita Andress (Liz Hume-Dawson).

The series also introduced a new main character, rebel and cynical tomboy Clem Burton (Jade Alleyne), who joined the Nero crew and mysterious spray painting Andress appeared around Elmsmere, called 'The Phantom Sprayer', but it was later revealed that Mr. Bell is the villain. New love interest for Dexter, Science teacher Lizzie Baker (Sarah Schoenbeck), introduced in the first episode.

A new recurring character, Isobel Harlow (Ruby Barnhill) emerged from episode three. The series also features mini acting from Josh's gang as shown in the inaugural series and the final series. Nathan also made his comeback in two episodes and is now a father to baby Moses.

Series 5 (2016)

In the fifth series, all characters from the fourth series remain, but with three new characters, Lizzie's sister Amber (Ella Marshall Pinder) and her friends Violet (Cara Jenkins) and Darnesh (Riley McCormick) who want to adjust to the kids " cool ", like Nero and his gang. Zoe-Marie's sister Ingrid (Zara Thurstan) also started school and quickly became an enemy of Amber. A new head teacher was also introduced in the first episode, Mrs. Helena Goodman (Victoria Carling).

Throughout the series, both Nero and Clem try to tell each other how they feel about each other. Dexter and Lizzie are dating but have to hide it from someone else, though Mr. Nunn (Dan Wright) tries to attack Lizzie. Amber, and his gang try to beat their bully Ingrid and Dexter and Nero face the problem of living together.

Series 6 (2017)

In the sixth series, Nero and Clem finally start dating after their summer romance, but eventually break up after some of their arguments. Clem set off in episode three to pursue a career in music. Dexter and Lizzie were expecting a baby, and eventually gave birth to twins named Albert and Faraday. After her divorce in the previous series, and a brief connection with newcomer Anastasia (Rachel Elizabeth Kelly), Bell finds herself living in a declining caravan in the schoolyard with her estranged son, CJ (Rufus King-Dabbs), a newcomer to the series.

Dexter and Nero were both shocked at CJ's arrival, since Bell never mentioned in the previous series that he had a child. The series also introduces the characters of Polly Morgan (Mischa Eckersley), a fellow pupil of Nero whom she tries to impress across the series and the younger brother Owen, Chester (Rohan Green). In Series 6, Isobel Harlow was promoted to the regular series as he appeared in every episode.

Series 7 (2018)

The seventh series began airing on January 24, 2018. All the main characters of the previous series were re-separated from Isobel Harlow (Ruby Barnhill). Elmsmere School has moved to a new location after debt causes the old school to close. Mr. Bell becomes standing at the head of the school, while Helena Goodman takes time off to reflect on the financial problems of the old site. He's back for the last four episodes of the season.

Nero's character set off in the fourth episode to pursue a new experience in America along with Dexter and Lizzie. Two new characters are also introduced in the fourth episode, science teacher Maddie Harper (Genesis Lynea) and music teacher Danny Boyd (Nathan Clarke).

4 O'Clock Files

4 O'Clock Files is a spin off of 4 O'Clock Club , following Josh Carter's departure to Hillview Academy. Set during the end of the semester at Elmsmere, he focuses on Crispin Bell, making documentary films with the help of Fleur Murphy. He focuses on the Elmsmere curriculum, sports and educational activities, and also discusses the history of Elmsmere, about how Elmsbury and Fowlmere joined.

The series features clips from the second and third series, as many documentary topics are discussed. The series also features Nero and his friends, who discuss the events of the third series. Isaac and Ash made their last appearance in Elmsmere's uniform, discussing Josh's accident with Rachel and the adventures they had at Elmsbury and Elmsmere.

Dexter and Nunn are also caught teasing each other, at the expense of Dexter's end-of-year report, which he did on reports of Josh and Zoe-Marie. Josh was absent from the series (due to his departure to Hillview). He only appears in the clip of the previous series.

This program airs on CBBC between December 14 and 19, 2014.
